Are You Interested in Adopting a Foster Child, but Concerned about the Costs?

TVAS offers pro bono legal assistance to eligible families adopting foster children in Tarrant County.


This service is made possible by a grant from the Texas Bar Foundation. Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $15 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation's largest charitably-funded bar foundation.

Learn More about Foster Care Adoptions in Tarrant County:

TVAS works with Our Community Our Kids (OCOK), a division of ACH Child and Family Services, in providing pro bono adoption services to eligible families. OKOC is the Single Source Continuum Contractor (SSCC) for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) in Region 3b. As the SSCC, Our Community Our Kids manages the continuum of care provided to children in foster care and their families.

TVAS also supports the National Adoption Day event in Tarrant County. Tarrant County Adoption Day "is a special day to celebrate children who have been in foster care as they become part of forever families. This annual event is held at the Tarrant County Family Law Center and is a collaboration between CPS, Judges, Attorneys, Foster Care Agencies, and Community Volunteers.

Interested in Applying for Pro Bono Assistance?

If you are interested in obtaining pro bono assistance with the adoption of a child in foster care, call TVAS's general number at (817) 546-4450 and leave a message indicating your interest. 

You may also fill out this application and send to TVAS by faxing it to the Tarrant County Bar Association at (817) 338-4092. A TVAS volunteer will review the application and follow up for more information.

TVAS does not have staff attorneys and relies on volunteers to provide services. All pro bono assistance through TVAS is by application and requires prior approval of eligibility.
